“Founded 30 years ago in Nagpur, Hitbhav Engineers has grown into one of Central India’s leading engineering consultancies, providing expertise in project planning, hydraulic, environmental, and structural design across more than 16 states of India.
Over the past three decades, we have worked extensively with local, regional and state government departments, leading private sector industries, and infrastructure contractors. As Detailed Engineering Consultants, we have delivered engineering solutions for water resource projects, industrial projects, environmental infrastructure projects, and highway structures.
Founded on a strong belief in community-oriented engineering, “Hit-bhav” is more than just our name, but is also reflected in our approach to engineering, as we strive to create community-focussed impact. Our motto “We make every drop smile” reflects our commitment to efficient and sustainable use of resources.
Today, our team of 25+ highly skilled design engineers continues to build on this, through delivering infrastructure that is smarter, stronger, and sustainable. We are proud to be a woman-owned firm with about 45% female representation in our team.

“A meritorious civil engineering graduate from Amravati University, she founded Hitbhav Engineers in Sept 1996. She has more than 30 years of experience in hydraulic & structural design of various infrastructure & water resource projects. She is an expert in the design of bridges, dam components such as spillway & spill channels, various canal structures, cross-drainage works such as aqueducts, syphons.”

“Dr Hitendra has been a part of Hitbhav since 2018, bringing nearly 40 years of experience in engineering, design and water resources. Coming from humble beginnings, his career took him to high places, working at a leading engineering consultancy in Mumbai in the early ‘90s, where he contributed to designs of prestigious industrial projects including design of thermal & nuclear power plants.
Driven by a commitment to serve the community, he later joined Water Resources Department, Govt of Maharashtra by qualifying through Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC). During his 22 years with the department, he contributed to several major irrigation projects, including the Gosikhurd Project. He worked towards improving the reliability of water resources for protecting the livelihoods of farmers in Vidarbha. He voluntarily retired from government service in 2017.
He has also served as the Deputy General Manager (Design) at Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd., where he led the design of several critical aspects of Nagpur Metro.
He received his doctorate from Nagpur University in 2013 on innovative design concepts for integrated aqueduct design, reflecting his commitment to lifelong learning.
Dr Chandewar remains actively engaged with the professional industry through the Indian Concrete Institute, where he has served as Chairman of ICI Nagpur Centre and on the Governing Council of ICI Headquarters, Chennai. He shall be serving as National Vice-President (West Zone), ICI-Headquarters for the 2026-28 term.
Er Vedashree Chandewar
Consulting Engineer (Environmental)
Vedashree is an Environmental Engineer combining a strong academic foundation in engineering with international experience in environmental policy, sustainable infrastructure, and waste management. She graduated top of her class with a BTech (Honours) in Civil Engineering from IIT Hyderabad, and was a recipient of the Institute’s Academic Medal.
She holds a Master’s degree (Distinction) in Environmental Engineering from Imperial College London, where she specialised in waste management infrastructure for developing countries. She subsequently spent over two years in London as an Environmental Policy Consultant, working on policy design, environmental impact modelling & feasibility studies for UK local authorities, national government agencies, and supranational organisations.
Her international work includes projects supporting the Intergovernmental Negotiations Committee for the Global Plastics Treaty, as well as extensive work on sustainable resources management, circular economy frameworks, and packaging policy design, particularly Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and Deposit Return Systems (DRS).
At Hitbhav Engineers, Vedashree leads projects in flood protection, rainwater harvesting feasibility, hydrogeological assessment and integrated stormwater drainage, including for industrial-scale developments. She brings together global policy insight and practical engineering expertise to strengthen Hitbhav’s capabilities in sustainable, resource-efficient, and future-ready infrastructure.
Our Story
Over the Years
1996
Origin
Er Gourangi Chandewar founded Hitbhav Engineers, working from home on small-scale building projects.
2001
Formalisation
Operations moved to our first office in Nagpur, and marked the beginning of work on commercial & infrastructure projects across Vidarbha.
2009
Consolidation
Hitbhav moved to 1500 sq.ft. office in Shivajinagar, Nagpur, as the team expanded its expertise in Water Resource Infrastructure, Bridge Design, and Industrial Projects across Central India.
2018
Growth
Dr. Hitendra Chandewar joined Hitbhav as Chief Consulting Engineer, marking a new phase of growth. The team expanded to 15 engineers undertaking infrastructure projects from all over India. The new brand identity was launched, alongside our motto ‘We Make Every Drop Smile’.
2025
Diversification
Er Vedashree Chandewar joined Hitbhav as Consulting Engineer (Environmental), marking the entry of the second generation, and a dedicated Environmental Design team focussed on addressing socio-environmental challenges through sustainable infrastructure.
2026
Advancement
Hitbhav moved into ‘Hitbhav Heights’, a G+5, approximately 9000 sq.ft. office building, marking a new chapter in our growth. Designed and built with best construction practices and green building principles, the state-of-the-art facility provides a modern workspace for our growing team of 25+ engineers
